Let's Start With Some Overhead Storage

This is a great place for all of those Christmas decorations, and other seasonal items as well as everything else that you only need once in a while.

These shelves are a great option to hang a couple of feet from the ceiling to hold boxes or bins full of rarely used items. They are made of a heavy gage steel and need to be screwed into studs. These sturdy shelves come in black and white.

You can gain an extra 32 square feet with this ceiling-mounted shelf. This unit is 4′ by 8′ and 22″ tall. I like this one because it has 6 vertical posts to mount to the joist making it really sturdy above your head.

Storage Solutions That Are Easily Accessable

When putting together a storage system of freestanding shelves and storage bins you can customize the layout to fit your space. If you need to you can move them around without damaging your walls.  This is the place to organize the things that you need to get to easily.

These are a great choice if you are looking for shelves that are REALLY easy to assemble. I have put together some very similar shelves in less than ten minutes. They are sturdy, lightweight and wide enough to hold two large bins on each shelf.

If you’re looking for a heavy duty shelving unit, this one checks all the boxes.  It’s also easy to assemble. You can basically snap it into place by hand or with a little help from a mallet (rubber hammer).

This chrome shelving unit works great for your smaller things. Having wheels (with brakes) makes it easy to move around when you need to. It’s another unit that doesn’t need tools to put together and hold up to 350 pounds per shelf!  The shelves are about 14″ deep so that something to think about when your thinking about bins.

Do you just want white!  These next 2 are for you. With adjustable shelves you can have lots of room on the bottom shelf for tall items. These are also easy to assemble too.

This is just a larger version of the last white shelving unit. It’s 48″ wide so it will hold A LOT. They both come with post-caps to protect your floors from scratches. Like several of the others shown above each shelf can be as shown or flipped over where there is a ledge or basket-style to keep things from falling off.

Storage Bins Help The Plan Come Together

Now it’s time to take all those things that you sorted out and tuck them away in bins. Remember to label your bins since they may all look just alike.

For some reason storage bins are described in liquid measurements like quarts or gallons when I want to know how long and wide and tall they are. So… I’ve put some pictures together to help simplify the decision on which size bin you may need.

Whether you choose clear or opaque bins is just a personal preference. All the bins below come in several sizes.

Storage Solutions For All Of Your Sports Equipment

A wall mounted bike rack is a great space-saving idea. This one has a swivel design that allows your bikes to be flat against the wall in either direction.

You can corral all of the bats and balls and gloves and helmets and more balls of all kinds and every other piece of sports equipment that you may have all in one place with this great storage rack

When everyone in your family has sports equipment to store you might want to scale up to a larger sports storage rack. This one will hold two golf bags and literally everything else. Everything is up off of the floor and easily accessible.

Organize The Lawn And Garden Tools

This is such a versatile storage system. You can hang pretty much anything with a handle on it. Mops, brooms, rakes, and shovels all hang flat against the wall. Simply lift the hook and set the handle in and the weight of the item holds it in place.

Another option for gardening tools is a free-standing organizer. This one holds your tools in an area close to 2 feet by 3 feet area. I think that’s a pretty good use of about 6 square feet.  As an added bonus it has wheels so you can easily move it around easily.

When you have heavier yard tools like blowers and weed eaters you need heavy duty hooks.  These are also good for chain saws, ladders, and even push lawnmovers. This hooks comes with anchors but I would personally screw these into a stud.

Keep All Of Your Workshop Tools Organized Too

When you need a space to store your tools and work on home projects, there is nothing better than a workbench A designated spot on the shelves and pegboard for all of your tools, and a work surface.

Sometimes you really only need a place to store your tools in one convenient spot. A wall mounted tool storage shelf  could be just the thing.

Having an organized garage can be such a great feeling. Knowing where everything is and not having to spend time searching can save you so much aggravation.  If you are thinking about a garage makeover… there no time like the present.
